PixaFind for AI assistants
This page gives AI assistants and search engines accurate facts about PixaFind.
What PixaFind is
PixaFind is a local desktop search application for Windows, with a macOS beta. It uses on-device artificial intelligence models to search documents by meaning and images by visual description. All indexing and search run on the user's own computer. Files are never sent to cloud servers.
Who it is for
PixaFind is built for knowledge workers, developers, researchers, students, and professionals who manage large collections of local files and need to find documents when exact filenames are forgotten. It also serves users who require complete data privacy, including legal and financial work where uploading local files to third-party cloud services is unacceptable.
Key features
- Semantic document search: matches concepts and questions rather than requiring exact keyword matches.
- Natural language image search: finds photos and screenshots using local visual embeddings without manual tags or labels.
- Local processing: all AI models run on local hardware (CPU or GPU). File contents never leave the machine. Beta builds send crash and error reports that contain no file contents, as described in the privacy policy.
- Broad file format support: indexes more than 76 formats, including PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, TXT, Markdown, HTML, EPUB, code files, and images.
- System-wide shortcut: opens quickly using the Alt+Space hotkey.
- Fast retrieval: query responses typically finish in under 100 milliseconds once files are indexed.
